On Wednesday, 7 February 2018, Cape Town High School hosted an athletics triathlon at the Green Point Stadium Athletics Track. The other two competing High Schools were Gardens Commercial High School and Good Hope Seminary High School.
Despite sizzling hot weather (reaching 34 degrees at peak), all competing athletes gave of their very best and great school and team spirit were in evidence right throughout the day.
Athletes competed in High Jump, Long Jump, Discuss-throwing, Running and Relay Races.
At the end of the afternoon, Cape Town High School was awarded the trophy for the best school spirit, as well as the trophy for the overall winner of the Triathlon.
CTHS won all the Under-19 and Under-17 Boys' events in the 100 metres, 200 metres, 400 metres and 800 metres. There were also wins in the Girls' Under-14 100m and Under-15 100m races.
Star athletes included Dale Clark, Sibusiso Mramba, Chumani Butsaka, Sindiso Juta, Zolani Ndumo, Clinton van Wyk, Loyiso, Marissa, Naledi and Inathi Tom.
It is also the second consecutive year that Cape Town High School has won the overall winners trophy.
Heartiest congratulations to all the winners! Grateful thanks to Mr Cloete for arranging the hosting of the event and to all Staff from all participating schools, who kept score, measured distances, heights and times. Thank you to the management and staff of Green Point Stadium for making it a competent and secure event. Also to the Medical and Emergency Services personnel who were there to cope with any medical issues. And last, but certainly not least, to the athletes and learners who participated, attended and provided such passionate and energetic support throughout the day.
